Tomcsányi - Szívhangok ~ Heartbeats 2023

£35.00

A profoundly expressive and quietly powerful interpretation of Somló, capturing the raw, untamed beauty of this ancient volcanic hill. The nose is intensely mineral, with layers of quince, ripe pear and orchard apple unfolding against a striking backdrop of crushed rock and subtle savoury complexity. The palate is beautifully concentrated yet remarkably poised, where generous texture meets an almost electric tension and precision. Deeply layered, with an unmistakable volcanic character, the wine carries extraordinary energy through to a long, persistent, mineral-driven finish. A contemplative wine that demands your attention, rewards patience and truly comes alive alongside food. Somló in its purest, most compelling form.

Vinification

Each variety is harvested separately and gently foot-trodden before being pressed in a small traditional basket press, with the exception of Hárslevelű, which undergoes two weeks of skin fermentation followed by ageing under flor, introducing an additional layer of savoury complexity. The individual components are matured for two years in used oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop remarkable depth and texture while preserving the vibrant acidity and distinctive mineral tension of Somló's volcanic terroir. Bottled without fining, filtration or any addition of sulphur, Szívhangok is a beautifully unadulterated expression of its origins.

Interesting Facts

Szívhangok translates as "Heartbeats", a deeply personal tribute from Árpád to his father, a cardiologist whose support helped finance the establishment of the estate. Beyond its name, the wine embodies the spirit of Tomcsányi: a small, family-run domaine where traditional methods, patience and an uncompromising respect for nature shape every bottle.
