Thibaud Capellaro - La Canuse 2023
Thibaud Capellaro - La Canuse 2023
Vivid, perfumed and wonderfully original, this unique co-fermentation turns the classic Côte-Rôtie blend on its head. Bursting with blood orange, wild strawberries and raspberries, it unfolds into layers of elderflower, ripe mango and lychee, lifted by delicate spice and floral aromatics. The Viognier brings an exotic, silky texture, while the Syrah provides freshness, subtle structure and remarkable length. Elegant yet deeply expressive, it finishes with vibrant energy and a beautifully lingering mineral edge.

Vinification
This remarkable cuvée reinterprets the traditional Côte-Rôtie approach in reverse. Whole-bunch Viognier from Gérald Oustric's renowned Le Mazel estate in southern Ardèche was co-fermented for ten days with already-pressed whole-bunch Syrah from Thibaud Capellaro's Côte-Rôtie vineyard. Following fermentation, the wine matured for eleven months in a combination of demi-muids and amphora, building texture and complexity while preserving purity and freshness. Bottled without fining, filtration or added sulphur, it is an elegant, vibrant and singular expression of Rhône terroir.
