Les Cigales dans La Fourmilière - Queue de Comète 2023
Les Cigales dans La Fourmilière - Queue de Comète 2023
A deep, concentrated and beautifully composed expression of Mourvèdre, showing the darker, more serious side of the Les Cigales range. Cassis, black cherry and ripe plum lead the nose, layered with black pepper, black olive, subtle smoky wood and a touch of earthiness. The palate is energetic and remarkably precise, with concentrated dark fruit, firm yet rounded tannins and elegant acidity bringing freshness and lift. Despite its depth, the wine never feels heavy—the structure is beautifully integrated and the balance is spot on. With air, the fruit and spice continue to evolve, while the tannins become increasingly supple, revealing a complex, polished and confidently made Mourvèdre with plenty of potential to develop further in bottle.

Vinification
The grapes was destemmed and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in large oak foeder, with approximately one week of skin maceration. Extraction was deliberately gentle, with no punch-downs or pump-overs, allowing the natural concentration and structure of Mourvèdre to develop without becoming heavy or overly tannic. The wine was then aged for one year in large oak foede, bringing additional depth and integration while retaining freshness and energy. Bottled without fining or filtration, Queue de Comète is a structured yet elegant expression of Mourvèdre, with impressive concentration, complexity and ageing potential.
