ÉTIENNE SEIGNOVERT
Ardèche, Rhône | FRANCE
Etienne Seignovert, the brilliant young winemaker from the enchanting Saint-Barthélemy-Le-Plain near the Doux valley. Leaving behind his family’s restaurant legacy, Etienne dived into the world of wine, sharpening his skills at the esteemed Domaine Gouffier in Burgundy. Fast forward to 2020, and he’s back on his family’s farm, crafting his debut vintage and making waves in the underground wine community!
Etienne’s vision is a beautiful blend of polyculture and agroforestry, utilizing the diverse ecosystem of his tree- and hedge-bordered land. His own plots of Syrah, Merlot, Marsanne, Rousanne, and Gamay flourish on the granite terraces of Saint-Barthélemy-le-Plain and Tournon-sur-Rhône, perched at 300-500 meters above sea level. In addition to these small plots, he sources most of his grapes from friends and esteemed vintners in St. Joseph, Ardèche, and Savoie, all adhering to organic farming principles.
In the cellar Etienne is working with stainless steel and used French oak barrels from top small cooperages. He doesn’t fine, filter or adds sulphur to his wines. Each bottle is a testament to his dedication, showcasing pure fruit expression, gentle extraction, and vibrant, electric flavors bursting with personality.
